An Eastleigh man has been arrested on suspicion of assault and indecent exposure after revealing himself to staff at a pub in Chandler's Ford.

Police are investigating the 23-year-old in connection with a host of offences in and around the Halfway Inn on Friday evening.

Officers were first called after receiving reports of an assault taking place outside the pub in Winchester Road at around 11.20pm.

A customer was approached by venue staff after a complaint had been made against him before he began to become verbally and physically abusive. It is alleged that he then indecently exposed himself to the two female staff members.

The man’s behaviour is then said to have escalated, with it being reported he assaulted other people within the venue before kicking a taxi on Winchester Road – causing damage to the door panels and bumper.

He is further accused of assaulting the two pub workers as well as an innocent bystander as they followed him down the road, before throwing a brick at a passing vehicle.

A 23-year-old man from Eastleigh was arrested on suspicion of common assault, indecent exposure, criminal damage and using threatening, abusive or insulting words to cause harassment, alarm or distress.

While in custody, the man was seen to indecently expose himself to police officers before making further derogative comments towards them.

He has since been released under investigation. Police enquiries remain ongoing to establish the exact circumstances of the incidents before officers consider seeking guidance from the Crown Prosecution Service for relevant charges to be brought forward.
