SNOW showers covered Winchester this morning, as temperatures reached nine degrees.

Spells of light snow confused local residents as it poured from the sky at around 11.10am this morning. According to the Met Office, snow is not forecast in Winchester today, with strong winds and spells of sunshine appearing throughout the day. A statement on the Met Office website said: "Windy at first, with any blustery showers easing through the morning.

A largely fine day follows with good spells of sunshine. Winds only gradually easing through the day. Maximum temperature 11 °C."

A short clip taken by the Chronicle shows snow falling from the sky, with no signs of laying. Motorists and pedestrians are encouraged to travel carefully as storm Franklin causes havoc in and around Hampshire.
