POLICE stopped and searched three people who had allegedly been hare coursing in the Meon Valley.

The three males and dogs were detained on the A32 near Meonstoke at around 10.30pm last night (Friday) and searched under the Poaching Prevention Act.

Officers had responded after receiving reports of suspicious activity, said a police spokesman today.

The vehicle driver, a 17-year-old youth, was found to have no insurance and he was reported for summons.

No further action was taken over hare coursing.
