A NEW pump track has opened in a Hampshire village.

The track opened last weekend and is located on the New Road playing field in Swanmore.

Jon Woodman, chairman of Swanmore Parish Council, said: “Following consultation with residents, we made the decision to convert our BMX dirt track into a Pump Track, opening the facility up to more of our community.

“The pump track can be used by bike, scooter and skateboard users of all ages. We are extremely pleased with the outcome, the track is a valuable community asset and is already proving popular.”

The work was completed by Clark and Kent Contractors.

A spokesperson said: “The Swanmore project is a great provision for the local community and although we didn’t build the original track we have been involved in the upkeep and resurfacing works for a number of years.

“We had spoken to Swanmore Parish Council about potentially adding tarmac to the track at some point and how this would reduce the ongoing maintenance costs and make it useable for everyone.

“It was a pleasure to be asked to future proof the facility with an overlay of a tarmac riding surface making it useable for miniwheeled users.

“The works took just under two weeks from the initial grass cut to the finished product and we would like to extend our thanks to all the local children, parents, dog walkers and runners for their kinds works of encouragement and gratitude throughout our time here at Swanmore.”
