Covid cases in the Winchester area continue to fall sharply.

In the 14 areas around Winchester, have all seen declines for the first time since last April.

Winchester West has seen the sharpest fall in the seven days to January 12 with 73 cases, down 95 (56 per cent) for a rolling number per 100,000 of 733. Only last week its number was 1,426.

The other areas are: Whiteley, Knowle and Wickham, at 101 down 83 (45 per cent) for a rolling number per 100,000 of 859;

Denmead and Southwick: 99 cases, down 90 (47 per cent), 936;

Colden Common and Twyford: 91 cases, down 35 (28 per cent), 948;

Springvale and Itchen Abbas: 70 cases, down 34 (33 per cent), 1,019;

Swanmore, West Meon and Hambledon: 89 cases, down 37 (29 per cent), 1,011;

Winchester North and Sparsholt: 81 cases, down 42 (35 per cent), 828;

Winchester East: 54 cases, down 56 (51 per cent), 665;

Stanmore: 55 cases, down 38 (41 per cent), 794;

Winchester Central and South: 88 cases, down 31 (26 per cent), 785;

Bishop’s Waltham and Waltham Chase: 78 cases, down 45 (37 per cent), 795;

Oliver’s Battery and Hursley: 64 cases, down 19 (23 per cent), 782; 

Alresford: 51 cases, down 28 (35 per cent), 601;

Sutton Scotney, South Wonston, and Micheldever: 40 cases, down 14 (26 per cent), 675.

Currently 68.8 per cent of eligible people in the Winchester district have had their booster jab, above the national average of 63.4 per cent.
