A medical incident attended by ambulance and fire crews took place in Winchester High Street today.

Fire crews assisted paramedics in dealing with a medical emergency in Cross Keys Passage, just off the High Street.

Fire crew at the scene said they were assisting the paramedics with the medical emergency.

A spokesperson from Hampshire Fire Service said: “Winchester firefighters were called at 13:43 to assist ambulance with treating a casualty on the High Street.

“No action was taken by HIWFRS, with the crew leaving the incident in the hands of South Central Ambulance Service paramedics.

“Firefighters returned to station at 1.59pm.”

A spokesperson from South Central Ambulance said: “We were called at 13:35 to High Street, Winchester to a medical emergency. We sent to the scene an ambulance crew and a co-responder who were assessing and treating one patient. 
“Following treatment at the scene by our crews the patient was taken to Royal Hampshire County Hospital.”
