INQUESTS have been opened into a husband and wife who died in a collision on the B3006 earlier this month.

Christine and Roger Barton, of High Street in Selborne, died on January 7.

The inquests heard that their car tipped on its side and collided, head-on, with a vehicle on the other side of the of the B3006, near Alton.

A post-mortem was carried out by Dr Adnan Al-Badri on Mrs Barton, 75, and Mr Barton, 76.

The cause of Mrs Barton's death was found to be severe head injuries.

The cause of Mr Barton's death was found to be chest and abdominal injuries.

Area coroner Jason Pegg adjourned the inquests to take place on October 3.
