A THEATRE company, based at a Winchester theatre, have performance opportunities for young people this year.

Discarded Nut Youth Theatre, based at The Nutshell, are looking for people aged 12-25 for their two productions this year.

There are two different companies that people can get involved with. The first is for actors who want to create breath-taking stage adaptations of classic plays or books.

This month, the acting company will begin work on Holes, the brilliant and inventive stage show based on the multi-award-winning novel, by Louis Sachar, which tells the story of Stanley Yelnats who is born into a family cursed with bad luck thanks to his “no-good, dirty-rotten, pig-stealing great-great-grandfather”.

The second company is for those who love musical theatre and want to take part in some of the most trailblazing, and inspiring shows that have taken the West End by storm.

Also starting rehearsals in January, DNYT Musicals take on the incredible award-winning Madness musical, Our House, featuring a collection of Madness hits including House of Fun, Baggy Trousers, Driving in my Car, It Must Be Love and of course Our House.

The show introduces sixteen-year-old Joe, who, while trying to impress the girl of his dreams, carelessly breaks the law leaving him to choose between two very different paths, one good, one bad; the consequences of his choice will change his life forever.

Holes and Our House will be performed at The Nutshell in July 2022.
