A PERSONAL trainer from Winchester has been recognised at The National Fitness Awards.

Matt Gleed attended the Athena in Leicester for a black-tie event, where he won the ‘Outstanding Achievement’ award for his contribution to the fitness industry.

The awards were hosted by Script Media and saw the best in the business come together to celebrate.

On the award win, Mr Gleed said: “I am totally overwhelmed to have been given this award. I can honestly say I love my job, and to have been recognised for the work I do is a great feeling.

"The fitness industry is a fantastic driving force for helping people live happier, healthier lives and I am honoured to be a part of this, doing my bit to help people be more active, more often and helping develop the professional standards within the industry.

"I want to say a big congratulations to all those nominated and all the winners of the NFA’s, it was a brilliant evening to reflect on all the hard work, but hugely positive work we do as an industry and I look forward to what 2022 holds!”

In the face of lockdown, Mr Gleed had to rapidly pivot his offering.

He launched an online 'Master Trainer Academy' to enhance the skills of fitness professionals in a hybrid online offering.

During this time, Matt also took his work with TRX, leaders in Suspension Training, to a whole new level with online eduction which was taught to over 3,000 UK trainers virtually in a new, revolutionary digital TRX education course.

This course has now been taught in the US and has to this day, supported over 20,000 fitness professionals worldwide.

Having worked in the fitness industry for over 22 years, Matt has focused on helping other fitness professional be the best versions of themselves, he has been featured as an expert within national media and broadcast and has been invited to speak at conferences home and abroad.
