SNOW showers wash over Winchester as temperatures plummet to 4 degrees.
With only rain forecast today (Tuesday), the Met Office website wrote: "Cloudy with rain and perhaps some sleet gradually clearing southeast. Most parts seeing plenty of sunshine through the afternoon, however it will be feeling much colder than recent days, with brisk winds developing. Maximum temperature 6 °C."
A spokesperson for the Met Office said: "There is a northerly flow bringing much colder air to the UK for the next few days, compared with the mild Christmas weather. As a band of rain moves across the south today we are seeing those showers turn wintry on the edge of this, particularly on higher ground in the west.
"I don’t think it’s likely you’ll see much more in Hampshire today! Tomorrow will be fine but cold, with a sharp frost on Wednesday night across the whole UK."
A video taken by the Chronicle shows a snow shower on Upper Brook Street, Winchester today at 11.48am.
