POLICE are investigating assault and criminal damage during a Boxing Day hunt in the Meon Valley.
A car reportedly driven by two hunt saboteurs monitoring the Hursley Hambledon Hunt near Meonstoke was allegedly attacked with a door window smashed and a person inside assaulted.
Hampshire police said in a statement: "We were called out at 2.07pm on December 26 following reports of an assault and criminal damage on Stocks Lane, Meonstoke.
"It comes after members of a hunt group were involved in an altercation with a small group of members of the public. One person was assaulted albeit no injuries were reported and attempts were made to steal a two-way radio. Officers were deployed to the scene and police inquiries remain ongoing to identify those responsible. No arrest have been made."
The Hursley Hambledon Hunt traditionally holds a meet starting at the Bucks Head pub in Meonstoke every Boxing Day.
