A MAN arrested for a smash and grab raid on a car containing Christmas presents near Winchester has been remanded in custody to be sentenced in the New Year.
Soloman Biddle, 35, was arrested on the A272 near Alresford a day after the Chronicle published video footage and photos of an attack on a parked car in Itchen Abbas on Saturday December 4.
Biddle, of Lockerley Road, Havant, has been charged with theft from a motor vehicle and offences at his arrest. These were dangerous driving on the A272 at Hinton Ampner, driving with no insurance and possession of cannabis.
Biddle appeared at Basingstoke Magistrates Court where he admitted the A272 offences and was remanded in custody to be sentenced at Winchester Crown Court on January 7.
The court has told the Chronicle it has no record of the theft of the Christmas presents but the police have said Biddle will be sentenced for all the charges on January 7.
