Children at Kingsmead Day Nursery in Winchester sent a heart-warming message of festive cheer to elderly residents at a local care home.

Brightly coloured Christmas cards and posters have been created and delivered by the Kingsmead children and staff to bring a smile to the faces of those living at St Catherine’s View Care Home in Winchester.

The day nursery, based in Gordon Road, wanted to support people living in the local community with the festive artwork which will go on display at the home.

Emily Walker, managing director at Kingsmead Day Nursery, said: “We were delighted to make the Christmas cards and posters to send our messages of love and peace at Christmas-time to elderly people living in the community.

“It has been a tough and lonely year for many and we thought that everybody would enjoy some Christmas cheer. Our creative elves have been busy with their paint brushes and are very proud of their festive handiwork.

“This nursery values acts of kindness and so it’s really important to us to teach the children to be friendly and generous to other people, not just at Christmas but throughout the year.”
