AN ALRESFORD man died after falling down the stairs at his home, an inquest opening heard.

On November 14, Ian Henry Ross, 79, whose address was not given in court, was unsteady whilst climbing the stairs, at the top he was swaying before falling to the bottom.

The ambulance service was called and Mr Ross was admitted to Southampton General Hospital. He died in hospital on November 22.

An inquest has now been opened into his death by area coroner Jason Pegg at Winchester Coroner’s Court.

The cause of death has been given as traumatic subarachnoid haemorrhage, fall and pulmonary embolism.

Mr Pegg adjourned the hearing for a full inquest to take place on June 1, next year.
