MOBILE phone signal appears to have returned in Winchester, with an update just hours after it was expected the problems would last into next week.
The O2 service status page updated on 5.36pm on December 3 after earlier in the day it had said an update would come by December 9.
The mast on the corner of Andover Road and Bereweeke Road had been taken down, but it is unclear exactly when the new mast was put in place.
The page gave a message saying the new mast is up and running after the temporary one had been removed, which was what had caused the mobile phone signal problems.
The message said: “Good news. Our network is working well. Our new mast is now up and running. We'll continue to keep a close eye on the network to make sure everything's working as it should.
“Still having trouble with calls or data? Try switching your device off and on again.”
Hampshire Chronicle readers had been reporting problems with signal from O2/Virgin, Vodafone and Tesco Mobile.
