Resisting an officer

AN ANDOVER man has admitted to resisting a police officer in the town last month.

On November 5 2021, Jason Christopher Sceats, of Pilgrims Way, resisted Devon Smith, a constable who was on duty.

Appearing at Basingstoke Magistrates’ Court on November 23, the 29-year-old faced a further charge of assault by beating against Callum Smith.

He denied the offence, and will stand trial on March 28 2022. He has been remanded on unconditional bail.

110mph on A303

A MAN was caught driving his BMW at more than 100 miles per hour on the A303.

Jacob Lee Morris Giles, of Robinson Grove in Longhedge, Wiltshire, was caught behind the wheel of the BMW 740i on the A303 at Longparish on November 21, 2020.

He was caught driving at 110 miles per hour and previously admitted the offence via the single justice procedure.

The 21-year-old’s case was due to be heard at Aldershot Magistrates’ Court last week, but it was adjourned to consider disqualification from driving. The case will now be heard at the same court on January 4, 2022, with all parties excused attendance.

Possible disqualification

A MAN could face disqualification from driving after he was found driving in Andover without insurance.

James Cooper, of Stockbridge Road in Sparsholt, previously admitted via the single justice procedure that he was behind the wheel of a Ford Focus when it was uninsured.

He was found driving the vehicle on Winchester Road on April 15.

The 28-year-old’s case was due to be heard at Aldershot Magistrates’ Court last week, but it was adjourned to consider disqualification from driving.

The case will now be heard at the same court on January 4, 2022, with all parties excused attendance.

Company fined

AN ANDOVER carpentry business has been fined after failing to licence a vehicle.

The Woodworks Company, based in Augusta Way West, failed to licence a yellow Nissan in the town on May 15.

The previous licence had expired on March 28.

The case against the company was proved in its absence at West Glamorgan Magistrates’ Court on November 22.

The company were fined £220 and ordered to pay £67.92 in vehicle excise back duty. It was also ordered to pay costs of £100.
