The UK's first carbon negative ice cream company, based near Winchester, has won a national award.

Jude’s were recognised at the Lloyd’s Bank British Business Excellence Awards when the Twyford-based company was awarded the 2021 Positive Social and Sustainable Impact Award.

The awards celebrate the resilience, innovation and creativity of the UK’s business community and Jude’s was chosen from businesses across the nation.

Britain’s first carbon negative ice cream company, Jude’s believes in putting people and the planet before profit.

The award recognises Jude’s work with Small World Consulting and Professor Mike Berners-Lee, an independent world-leading carbon footprint expert.

The Positive Social and Sustainable Impact Award also recognises Jude’s work with Resurgo Spear Program to equip young people with skills needed for the workplace, and Home for Good which works to find homes for every child who needs one through fostering and adoption.

Jude’s also works with local schools to educate children about food production. To date, Jude’s has donated over £250k to charity.

James Wright, Jude’s MD, said: “We’re so delighted that our efforts to bring life to people and the planet have been recognised in this way.

“People have always been at the heart of Jude’s ever since the company started, and in the past few years we realised we needed to be doing more for the planet too.

“But we always remind ourselves this is just the beginning! We are determined to keep doing more and more towards making the best tasting products in the most sustainable ways.”

Jude’s ice cream, custards, shakes and sauces are available to purchase in Sainsbury’s, Waitrose, Tesco, Ocado and independent stockists across the country.
