AN evening of prosecco, canapes, music and talks at The Wykeham Gallery in Stockbridge was held to see in the launch of a new business.

It was a well-attended event and in line with the times, it was also streamed on Zoom with people joining from around the globe including New Zealand, Antigua and Switzerland giving the evening a truly international flavour.

The Trusted Art Guide is a personal art advisory service serving Hampshire, Wiltshire and Dorset.

Jane Young, the founder of The Trusted Art Guide introduced herself and the service. She talked about the importance of art in the home for general well-being, and explained that the art people choose for their homes should reflect their personalities, memories, hopes and aspirations and if it is done right, the power of these art works can bring a lifetime of joy.

Janes service is all about guiding the client towards pieces that resonate, transforming their house into a home.

Jane said: "My new art advisory service is different from a consultancy firm in that I spend a lot of time getting to know my clients to find art that really resonates with them - their memories, hopes and aspirations to bring them a greater sense of well-being in their home. Art has to be more than just a pretty picture on a wall - it should mean something and spark reaction. Now we are possibly spending more time in our homes we need to surround ourselves in things that bring us pleasure."

She then introduced her two guest speakers – Sophie Hacker, the Winchester based renowned stained-glass artist and all-round artist, and Dinah Mason, an artist and art psychotherapist from Somerset, who both talked about their work and related it to the healing power of art.

Gerald Dodson, the owner of The Wykeham Gallery said a few words about the gallery and then Jane wrapped up the evening with a last thought, "it is important to remember that your home is where your heart is. When you move house, you and your heart will settle more quickly if you are surrounded by things you love. The right pieces of art go from home to home because they reflect your personality. Therefore, the right art is worth the investment – it will be something you never regret."
