A MAN is set to go on trial next year over a serious assault in Winchester city centre earlier this year.
Long Fei Zheng, 49, was due to appear at Winchester Crown Court today (Friday) but he was not brought to the court.
The court was told that Long was likely to plead not guilty and a trial date was set for February 28, next year - expected to last four days.
The judge, Mr Recorder C Langley listed a further hearing for November 18 where Long is expected to enter a plea.
Long is charged with wounding with intent after 37-year-old Lin Xin was found with stab wounds in Andover Road on September 9 at an address close to the Carfax junction.
Long, of Vernham Road, Weeke, Winchester, remains in custody.
