PARAMEDICS are dealing with a seriously ill person in Winchester city centre.
The police have also been called to the property 90 minutes after the first call for an ambulance just after 9am today. The reason for the police involvement is currently unclear.
Four ambulances were sent to a property in St Thomas Street near the High Street and Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance has also been deployed.
The ambulances, sent from 9.03am, include the Hazardous Area Response Team but an ambulance service spokeswoman said no chemicals are involved and the vehicle was sent because of the skills of the paramedics and the level of care needed.
The spokeswoman said only one person is being cared for and she could give no further details.
A police spokesman said: "We were called at 10.52am to an incident at a property in St Thomas Street, Winchester, and are at the scene."
No further information was forthcoming and the police had left within around an hour.
The fire service has not been deployed.
