FIREWORKS night went off with a bang for a school in Romsey.

The PTA of the North Baddesley Infant School joined forces with teachers of the Junior school and held its first fireworks night in more than a decade raising more than £6000.

Almost 3000 people attended the event which offered food and drink, music and other festival themed stalls and entertainment.

The money will be split down the middle between the two schools with the infant’s school using some of the money to take every pupil to see Aladdin at the Theatre Royale in winchester on December 7 whilst the junior school will pay for new LED lighting for their hall to help the children shocase their own theatre productions.

Hampshire Chronicle:

Lauren Denham, chair of the PTA at North Baddesley said: “It went off with no hitches. Everything went really well, an ambulance was on site, security were there and the weather held out.

“We think we will have just over £3000 each, maybe £3500, it’s still being counted.

“We’re going to pay to take the (infant) children to see a panto, we’re trying to plan as much as we can for the children after last year.

“We probably have some children who have never seen fireworks before.

“Thank you to everyone for coming, they were just so respectful of the grounds, they treated everything really nicely, we had no problems.”
