AN EX-SOLDIER has published a new book, detailing his risky and dangerous challenges, and will host a launch in Alresford tonight (Tuesday).

Jordan Wylie, who has recently moved to the town, has run through three of the most troubled countries in the world, set a world record rowing across the Bab El Mandeb Straits and paddledoarded around Great Britain.

The Kings Royals Hussars veteran will tonight launch his new book The Power of the Paddle at Party at the Mill, in Station Road, at 7.30pm.

The event, hosted by local entrepreneur AJ Roberts, will include a reading of an extract from the book and a signing.

Attendees will also be able to see the journey of a school built on the Horn of Africa thanks to Jordan’s fundraising.

The school was built after Jordan met a refugee called Ibrahim, who was displaced due to the conflict in Somalia, and wanted nothing more than to go back to school.

Speaking about the book, Jordan said: “It is the first book I purposefully planned to write, this story I was always going to write up. It is probably the one I am most proud of so far.

“During an adventure I was taking notes of the thoughts and feelings of what I wanted to relay to the readers and the emotions I was going through.”
