TWO pubs in the Winchester district have been awarded new ratings following recent food hygiene inspections.
The Bakers Arms in High Street, Droxford was handed a five-out-of-five rating after an assessment on October 5.
The Rising Sun, Spring Lane, Winchester was given a score of four-out-of-five on September 15.
It means that of Winchester's 101 pubs, bars and nightclubs with ratings, 83 (82 per cent) have ratings of five and none have zero ratings.
In a recent review, the Hampshire Chronicle found that many pubs, bars and restaurants within Winchester scored an impressive score of four and five, whereas a small number scored a three and below, with the Gurkhas Inn scoring a one, tied with Nuudle Bar, which also scored a one.
The numbers mean:
Zero – Urgent improvement necessary.
One – Major improvements necessary.
Two – Improvements necessary.
Three – Generally Satisfactory.
Four – Good on assessment.
Five – Seen as very good.
