SIR: Turning the closed River Park Leisure Centre into an outdoor lido, will be more like an ‘Outdoor Lie Low!’ This is England, not the French Riviera. England doesn’t get many warm, summer days. This lido will be un-used for most of the year! Plus, we already have an Amazon-sized new swimming pool at Bar End! Go there, all you flipping swimmers! Do you get it: flipping and swimmers? Keep up! So many swimmers are just ‘Posers’, who just want to lounge by the pool, and pretend that they are film stars; you’re not!

Good Idea No.1. Shock horror, the River Park Leisure Centre should re-open and be what it was before, ie an affordable, centrally-located sports centre. River Park’s prices were always good value, and affordable, unlike the expensive, new one down the road. River Park also had lots of ‘actual sports’, unlike the one down the road.

Good Idea No.2: Turn the River Park Leisure Centre into a centrally-located adult education college or large community centre. It is good for the mind, good for the community, fun and easy to get to.

Good Idea No.3: Turn the River Park Leisure Centre into an indoor tennis club. Because of the English weather, it means that tennis can be played all year round. Also, it is centrally-located in Winchester, and therefore easy to get to. Anyone for strawberries and cream? Perfect!
