The Winchester 10k is returning at the end of October, after being moved forward from its usual date in the spring due to the pandemic.

The event will be taking place on October 31 and will start at Winchester Guildhall, in The Broadway, and end at The North Walls Recreation Centre.

There will be some road closures during the event, from the race start time at 8.30am to 10.30am.

There will be diversions in place from 32 Andover Road to 60 Stockbridge Road, Kings Worthy House, London Road to 76 Wales Street and 26 N Walls to Kings Worthy Grove, Basingstoke Road.

The roads that are on the event route will reopen as soon as the race passes through.

This year, the event features a revised start with the race leaving the Broadway via the exit next to King Alfred's statue.

The route then heads up St George's Street before going out towards the village of Kings Worthy. The return leg passes through the village of Headbourne Worthy and back towards Winchester before finishing at The North Walls Recreation Centre.

With the event falling on Halloween, the organisers are encouraging people to dress up for their fancy dress competition, with the winner receiving a prize.

The date for the 2022 event has already been set for February 20, with entries opening soon.
