THEY now call it the ‘Harvest Festival of Clothes’ at Halterworth School and for good reason.
For the second year running, Elle Holdaway, 9 arranged for her school in Romsey to collect clothing for those in need and had the most amazing response.
Parents and locals dropped off more than 100 bags of unwanted clothes which were then taken down to Southampton City Mission, a charity dedicated to helping local people through hard times.
All the clothes Elle collected will be given to those who most need them in the city through the charity’s ‘free’ shop.
Halterworth School deputy headteacher Lorraine Pattison said: “I was at her side helping to take in the hundreds of bags. We encourage kindness to others at the school and we saw so much thoughtfulness from the children and parents this morning. We are very proud to be able to make people’s lives a little bit better. We also had a collection for the Romsey Food Bank and again there was so much generosity. The school can’t thank everyone enough.”
Elle said: “Thank you to everyone, it was a really amazing response. It makes me very happy to know that we have all helped those in need.”
