TWO men have been charged after a laundry bag containing a large amount of cannabis was found near Winchester.

Officers stopped a vehicle on Spitfire Link at around 11.59am yesterday (Tuesday) and officers carried out a search.

During the search a large quantity of cannabis in a laundry bag was located and seized.

Now, police have charged two men with drug supply offences. Fabio Shehu, 22, of Ashwell Street in Leicester, and Bledar Shehu, 42, of Hannam Court in Leicester, have been charged with possession with intent to supply a Class B drug.

They have been remanded in custody and will appear before Basingstoke Magistrates Court tomorrow (Thursday).

Following the discovery of the drugs, Hampshire Roads Policing Unit wrote on Twitter: "Not the kind of dirty laundry which should be aired in public. Fantastic bit of proactive policing."

The Tweet has garnered a lot of interest, with one person asking what the street value was. The unit replied: “We are still investigating what the street value would be. It would be really difficult to quantify what the value/extent of the seizure would be at this point in time.”
