PROTECTION has been given to two yew trees in Hursley by city councillors.
The planning committee agreed to the Tree Protection Orders for the trees, aged 80-90 years, at Old Court House.
There was on objection saying the trees could cause structural damage and were also dangerous as during a recent storm "branches" had fallen off. The berries pose a danger to children and pets.
But tree officer John Bartlett said the yews were of high value and there had been a proposal to remove them.
Mr Bartlett said no evidence had been supplied to show major defects that made them unsafe.
The committee unanimously agreed the TPO.
