PLAYFUL puppies, with their tongues wagging and wet noses snuffling - it is a world away from what they were like just a week ago.

These seven puppies were found last Wednesday evening by cyclist Rob Carter near Cheesefoot Head, on the South Downs.

This week the pups were visited by the Chronicle's media partner Solent News and Photo Agency, who photographed the dogs in a very playful mood.

When they were found they were in good health but very hungry. They are now being cared for at Three Oaks Boarding Kennels near Bishop's Waltham, the contractor for the city council.

Speaking last week, A spokesperson for Three Oaks Boarding Kennels said: "They are all absolutely fine and are being bathed at the moment. They had plenty to eat last night as they were so hungry.

"We haven't been contacted by anybody to claim them. We tried to scan for microchips but can't find them yet. They are adorable."

The dogs' owner has a week to collect them before the city council seeks to have them rehomed.
