COMMUTERS are being caught in an unusually long traffic queues on a main route into and out of Winchester this morning.
But it was nothing to do with the petrol crisis.
Yesterday evening outbound traffic built up from Bar End back the half a mile up Bar End Road to Chesil Street and the mini-roundabout on Bridge Street.
This morning traffic has been tailing back to the Bar End roundabout at the top of Garnier Road and the M3 slip road.
The cause was not queuing for petrol but temporary traffic lights to smooth flow around roadworks being undertaken by Southern Gas Networks outside the Esso petrol station on Bar End Road.
The petrol station does not have any fuel to sell at the moment.
