SIR: The world is in a catastrophic state at this moment with the consequence of Covid and now problems with energy gas.

This is nothing unusual as through history we have had several different types of problems which eventually we have overcome.

The Government continues to remind us of the problems they face, some of which are true but they never mention the plight of pensioners. We are the forgotten generation that have to exist on a pittance wondering whether to turn the heating on or to eat.

Most pensioners have worked all their lives putting contributions into the pot so hopefully they would get a decent living pension, not so.

The Government are intent on looking after all the idle layabouts etc, without a thought on what or how pensioners have to live, could any of them with their high-paid salaries live on this meagre pension? We were half promised an eight per cent rise but now it will be a quarter of this amount and with utilities, food and cost of living rising all the time the Government never mention how it affects pensioners.

A lot of people living off the state have never put a penny in the pot but those that have are forgotten. People (not all) living off the state have cars, mobile phones, cigarettes, drink, televisions, etc; they do not work because they are better-off not working.

It's time this Government paid more attention to people who have worked and stop supporting those living off the state without contributing anything. We cannot overcome this problematic time unless this Government wake up to reality and get their housekeeping in order.
