A PRIMARY school, near Winchester, has been given a new bike rack to encourage families to cycle to school.

Itchen Abbas Primary School children were gifted the new bike rack to motivate local families to get active.

Thanks to the fundraising efforts of school parent, Matt Kurton, who took on an Half-Ironman Triathlon and a donation from Boomtown, children now have a safe space to store bikes during the school day.

Head teacher, Aimee Dear, said: “Our new cycle rack will really encourage our children to consider cycling to school rather than coming in by car.

“That's good news for the environment too so everyone benefits.”
