SIR: A letter addressed to all those ‘car fanatics’ who constantly moan about poor car parking facilities in Winchester High Street. Get out of your flipping cars and ‘walk’ there!

Residents in most parts of Winchester can easily walk to Winchester High Street within half an hour.

If you’re elderly or infirm, or live right on the outskirts of Winchester (or outside Winchester) you can easily get a bus.

We need fewer cars in Winchester High Street, with all the pollution that, that brings! Get out of your flipping cars, all you moaners!

There is one regular and anonymous commentator to the Hampshire Chronicle website, with the name ‘Whiteshute’ who is constantly urging free-flowing traffic in the city centre and more car parks.

I don’t know if anyone has heard of this term, but it’s called ‘Climate Change.’ Has anyone heard of this term?! Cars are one of the biggest causes.

I used to live in Harlow in Essex, which has a wonderful network of cycle lanes. You can travel from one end of that town, to the other end, purely using those cycle lanes. This is what is needed in Winchester, a comprehensive network of safe cycle lanes.

It is far too dangerous to cycle on the roads, and you are putting your life in your hands, when you do. When I see those bicycles which have a baby or toddler trolley attached to them, I really wince. It is so irresponsible and dangerous for a parent to do this to their baby or toddler.
