THE director of fundraising at a children's hospice has cycled 105 miles in a day to kickstart a new charity fundraising challenge.

Paul Morgan, the director of fundraising at Naomi House and Jacksplace in Sutton Scotney cycled 105 miles in a day on a static bike in front of the site.

This comes as the charity launches its new fundraising challenge, Pedal 4 Play, which asks people to get on their bikes and cycle 105 miles to raise £105 each for the charity.

To help Paul complete his challenge, staff at the hospices and local supporters joined him on a second static bike throughout the day, to give him support and keep him pedalling.

Charlotte Patrick, Senior Events Fundraiser (Naomi House & Jacksplace) said: “We’re delighted to launch Pedal 4 Play, our new event for all the cycling enthusiasts in Hampshire (and beyond!). Every time you push those pedals you’re helping to make a difference to the children, young adults and families who use the services at Naomi House & Jacksplace.

"Play activities are an important part of the hospices and by getting involved in Pedal 4 Play you’re making a difference to the lives of children and young adults who visit Naomi House & Jacksplace.”

The new scheme is running throughout August and can be completed over as many days as the person wants.

Naomi House nursing and medical staff provide individualised nursing care that helps to enhance short lives and allows more than 600 local families to make the most of their time with their children.
