FADING historical adverts on a city centre home are set to be preserved by its new owner.

The Nestle and Ideal ads adorn the brickwork of the house, once a shop, on the corner of North Walls and Upper Brook Street, as previously reported in the Chronicle.

The building has been purchased by Julia Clyne who plans to turn the house into an Airbnb.

Ms Clyne was in the news recently in the campaign to repair a wonky manhole cover on North Walls that was keeping people awake.

She said the painted adverts are “currently looking rather sad without love for years but about to have have a massive refresh.”

“I’m going to seal the Nestle adverts with waterproof preserver to preserve them and focus on the historic element of the property for marketing to the Americans etc (‘Nestle House’) and harness the love that the folks in Winchester have for it, it’s a very unique little house there is not another one identical in the UK.”

There is also a painted advert nearby on Parchment Street highlighting an early 20th century car factory in Stonemasons Court.
