A WINCHESTER drink driver has been banned for 30 months.

Aqib Ahmed, 21, of Nursery Gardens, Fulflood, was caught twice over the legal limit. The first was on West Quay Road in Southampton on February 21, a court heard. His alcohol reading was 98 micrograms in 100 millilitres of breath when the legal limit is 35, making him nearly three times the limit.

On June 19 Ahmed was stopped on Churchill way, Andover, and his reading was 82 micrograms.

Ahmed pleaded guilty at Basingstoke Magistrates Court and was given a community order with a rehabilitation activity requirement for up to 20 days, fined £103 with a £96 victim surcharge as well as £170 costs. The ban will be cut by 30 weeks if he passes an approved course by April 9 2023.
