THERE is no need to panic if you saw fire engines surrounding Winchester Cathedral on July 13.
Firefighters were out in the heat servicing the hose at the city centre's biggest building.
Spectators stood by two engines partially blocked off The Close to ensure the hose was up to scratch.
Posting to Twitter, a spokesperson for Winchester Fire Station said: "Winchester and St Mary's crews servicing the hose used to protect Winchester Cathedral.
"Making full use of the ALP's long reach Fire engine Testing and maintaining our kit is such an important part of what we do."
