PEOPLE flocked to the parks and pub gardens last week as the country experienced a heatwave that brought temperatures above 30C, but showers and storms returned at the weekend.

According to the Met Office, frequent showers will continue throughout most of this week, but it will continue to feel warm and humid.

The weather is expected to improve in August, but there will still be a risk of showers or thunderstorms at times.

As with all forecasts though, confidence lowers the further away the prediction is.

Here is your full weather forecast for Winchester from today (Tuesday) onwards.

Tuesday:

Brightest early on in the north and east, with cloud and showery rain punctuated by heavier, perhaps thundery showers spreading eastwards later. Breezy near southern coastal districts, generally less hot. Maximum temperature 24 °C.

Outlook for Wednesday to Friday:

Changeable and often breezy, with a mixture of sunshine and showers, some heavy and thundery. Perhaps more generally wet for a time later Thursday into Friday. Feeling less warm.

Saturday, July 31 – Monday, August 9:

It will remain changeable through much of this period, with most parts of the UK seeing a mixture of dry, sunny periods together with showers or some longer spells of rain at times. Over the coming weekend sunny spells and heavy showers are likely for many areas. Into early next week these showers will probably become confined to eastern and northern parts of the UK, with the driest conditions in the west and southwest. From the middle of next week onward, we will likely see a continuation of mixed conditions bringing sunny spells but also some heavy showers, perhaps with more prolonged periods of rain at times. Temperatures are expected to be around or just below average.

Monday, August 9 – Monday, August 23:

Changeable conditions look likely to continue through the start of this period, with sunny spells mixed in with some showers at times or longer spells of rain, these more prevalent in the northwest. Although confidence in the detail is low, there are tentative signals suggesting that high pressure may become more dominant during the middle of August, bringing more settled, drier and warmer conditions for many. There would still be a risk of showers or thunderstorms at times. Temperatures are most likely to be above average.
