North Baddesley Infant School along with 10,000 schools from across the country, will take part in the Royal Mail Stamp Design Competition.

The infant school called on their young artists to think of who their heroes are and design a postage stamp in their honour.

Prime Minister, Boris Johnson and Royal Mail’s chief executive Simon Thompson introduced the competition to the children by video message.

The children were excited to learn, the eight best stamps would be sent to Her Majesty, The Queen before being printed.

Mrs Adimaly, class teacher said: “Our year 1 children have been learning about castles from around the UK and the monarchy, so they were very excited to know that the Queen might see their designs.”

The whole school took part with entries from all year groups with designs ranging from people who have supported them in school, NHS workers, refuse collectors, supermarket workers and transport drivers as well as Captain Sir Tom Moore.

Headteacher, Mrs Lashmar said: “It’s been a time of constant change for our children, and they have all shown great resilience in line with our school values. It was lovely to be able to take part in something as a whole school and talk positively about the children's experiences and heroes.”

The school also ran their own internal competition to acknowledge the children’s ideas and art skills.

Each winner celebrated in their own classroom and were presented with a Crayola prize.
