SAINTS women have announced the signing of Leeta Rutherford from Championship outfit Crystal Palace.

The 33-year-old has played for the likes of Portsmouth, Brighton, Lewes, London City Lionesses and Palace throughout her career.

Rutherford played 15 times for the Eagles in the Championship last season and is now set to join up with Marieanne Spacey-Cale’s side in National League Southern Premier.

Speaking about Rutherford’s arrival, boss Spacey-Cale told the club website: “We are delighted that Leeta has signed for us.

"She brings a wealth of experience, competitiveness and knowledge of playing at a high level.

"Leeta matches our values and ambitions and we look forward to working with her."

Saints women start their league campaign with a home clash against MK Dons on Sunday, August 15.
