YEAR 11 pupils at The Romsey School will get the chance to showcase their hard work and artistic talents after concerns the school’s annual exhibition would have to be cancelled due to Covid.

Wessex Optical, Franchise for Boots Opticians came to the rescue when an empty shop window in Romsey Town centre was spotted by staff at the school.

The school quickly contacted the new tenants who readily offered the space up for the children to use for this year’s event.

The new Opticians are very pleased to be able to offer support after what has been a tough time for children through the pandemic, so much so, they have even offered a prize for the piece of artwork which is voted `best in show` by members of the public.

The exhibition will be on display in the shop window between M&Co and Boots on The Hundred until Friday 23rd July.

Mr Kris Reilly, Head of Art at The Romsey School expressed his thanks to Wessex Optical, and said, “This is an excellent opportunity to showcase and recognise the work that students have produced in challenging circumstances. They are to be congratulated and we wish them every success in the future.”

The Art Department would like to invite the public to vote for their favourite piece by visiting the online gallery that accompanies the window display.
