A WINCHESTER surgery has issued a notice to its patients after a number of staff members have been told to self-isolate.

St Clements Surgery, in Tanner Street, published the notice this morning (Tuesday) after employees were told that they must remain at home. Local reports suggest that seven members of staff are currently self-isolating.

The notice on the practice’s website reads: “Unfortunately over the past couple of days a large number of staff members have been told to isolate. This is leading to long waiting times on the telephone.

“If you are able please contact the surgery for any medical issues via EConsult or our website for any administrative queries.

“Thank you for your patience and understanding at this time.”

It comes as the number of recorded coronavirus cases in Winchester increased by 41 yesterday.

Public Health England figures show that 5,409 people had been confirmed as testing positive for Covid-19 by 9am on Monday (July 5) in the district, up from 5,363 the same time on Friday.

St Clements Surgery has been contacted for a comment.
