POLICE say no further action will be taken against four people arrested over the death of a 20-year-old Southampton man.

The body of Sol Hemy was found in the water at Riverside Park in 2019 following a burglary at an address on River Walk where gun shots were fired and a group broke into a house being used to cultivate cannabis.

A post-mortem examination concluded that Mr Hemy drowned.

A police spokesperson said today: "Officers questioned four people in connection with his death.

"A 28-year-old man from Gosport was arrested on suspicion of murder. No further action was taken against him in relation to this offence.

"He was later charged with dangerous driving and a warrant is out for his arrest after failing to appear at court.

"A 34-year-old man from Winchester was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and was released with no further action.

"A 30-year-old man from Southampton was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder and possession of another person’s identity document and obtaining/acquiring/using criminal property.

"He was questioned by officers and was released with no further action being taken against him.

"A 24-year-old man from Southampton was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to murder. No further action was taken against him.

"A file on the circumstances was prepared for the Coroner and an inquest is scheduled for July 13."
