FIVE more schools across the Winchester district have reported at least one positive case of coronavirus in the last two days.

Hampshire County Council publish a full list of schools in the area which have reported positive coronavirus cases.

Just this week, five more schools have recorded that at least one individual has contracted Covid-19. It brings the total number of schools in the district to have cases to six.

New Covid hotspot emerges near Winchester

On Monday, primary schools Kings Worthy, South Wonston and Twyford St Mary’s all told the authority that it each had a positive case.

On Tuesday, Stanmore and Winnall primary schools also alerted the council that at least one person has the virus.

Kings’ School, which told the council on June 24 that it has case, remains on the list. It is not known if anymore cases have been identified.

As previously reported, a Year 10 pupil at Swanmore College has been infected and the whole year group has been told to remain at home today (Wednesday).

The school does not appear on the county council’s list at present.

More than 70 schools in Hampshire, excluding Southampton and Portsmouth, currently have cases of the virus. It has does not report Independent schools.

Although a school can record a positive case, this does not mean the infected person was in school at the time.
