A NEW nursery has recently been opened at Worthy Down barracks near Winchester.
Leading UK charity Action for Children has recently opened Spring Worthy Down. Formerly known as Pawprints, the nursery has been operating since 2012, serving both military and civilian families in the local community.
Worthy Down is the third nursery which Spring by Action for Children has acquired in partnership with the Ministry of Defence, following nurseries at Boscombe and Kinloss. Elsewhere, Spring operates a further four nurseries on military bases and 13 RAF stations across the UK.
Corinna Laing, deputy head of commercial at Action for Children, said: “We understand the unique features of military life and how vital childcare is for military families, who are often transient and move from one station to another.
“It is our aim to provide continuity of care across all settings to ensure children experience a smooth transition. With Spring, you know your child will be seamlessly supported during the transition and this is one less thing to worry about when you are on the move.
“Spring offers affordable, flexible, high-quality childcare with an emphasis on health and wellbeing. Our staff are skilled and experienced, with many of them military parents themselves who understand the challenges of military life.”
Joanne French, head of commercial at Action for Children, said: “‘I am very pleased to announce the new acquisition of Pawprints, now known as Spring Worthy Down. We welcome the team to Spring and are excited about this growth within our portfolio of childcare settings across the country.”
