TWO Winchester Rotarians have been recognised for their work in community.

The organisation has reported that two of its members have received Mayor of Winchester’s Community Awards.

Anthony Arkwright was nominated by Winchester Churches Nightshelter, where he has been a regular “overnighter” volunteer since 2013 and also advises on property issues.

Diana Brooks, nominated by fellow Rotarian Robert Parsons, is the author of the self-published children’s book “A Cat Called Smokey” – sales of which have so far raised £2,000 for Winchester Young Carers and £4,000 for The Nightshelter and Trinity Winchester.

Smokey’s story is set to continue in a second book.

The awards recognise and celebrate organisations and individuals who have gone above and beyond the call of duty to help others.
