HERE are pictures from one of Hampshire’s strangest village traditions.

Ropley Pram Race attracts dozens of participants each Bank Holiday Monday as well as hundreds of spectators.

The crowds watch on as costumed contestants navigate the leafy lanes of the village near Alresford.

The fancy dress characters are numerous and the variety of contraptions almost endless.

There’s usually a mixture of prams on show. These often include vintage rockers with chrome wheels that were dusted off from the garage, and alongside the latest baby carriers with all the mod-cons.

The race, which wasn’t held this year or the last, has been running since 1965.
