SIR: What sad news it was to read of the closure of Moorside (Chronicle, April 29, May 6).
My partner’s mother was fortunate to be cared for at this amazing dementia home. The feeling of warmth and care was resounding as you entered the calming building. A place where Joan called home, her room adorned with her own photos, the large window over looked the ever changing garden. Joan was SAFE, you simply couldn’t put a price tag on this.
For ourselves we could visit often (pre-Covid) but also close family were allowed to pay their respects during the last days of Joan’s life.
We have much to thank Moorside for and it is such a huge shame that others will not know about this gem of a dementia home. Sad day when Moorside closes.
