BOSS Ralph Hasenhuttl insisted he had to take the advice of his physios when bringing off striker Danny Ings against Fulham on Saturday.
The England striker played 58 minutes of the hosts’ 3-1 victory at St Mary’s, having been replaced by Nathan Tella with his side 1-0 up.
Tella went on to score his first senior goal for the club and set up Theo Walcott to ensure Saints claimed all three points against the relegated Cottagers.
Asked why he took off frontman Ings, Austrian boss Hasenhuttl said: “I only did what my head of physio asked me to do!
“He said 60 minutes maximum and I am a good listener.”
Ings has returned to start Saints’ past two fixtures, having overcome a hamstring problem picked up against Tottenham last month.
