THOUSANDS of pounds have been raised to help pay for the funeral of motorcyclist who died following a serious collision.

Jamie Pinnock, from Winchester, died on Wednesday, after suffering life-threatening injuries in the collision which took place on the B2177 on Saturday May 1.

The 33-year-old was riding a blue Kawaski ZR750 motorcycle, travelling East on Winchester Road towards Bishop's Waltham, when the incident occurred.

He was taken to Southampton General Hospital where he was in a critical state.

Following his death, a fundraising page has been set up to help pay for his funeral and raise money for the Southampton ICU, where he was being treated.

Funds are also being raised for Jamie's 10-month-old son to help with his future.

Georgi Jerred, who witnessed the collision and assisted police with their enquiries wanted to do more to help his family and started the page which has raised more than £5,000.

She said on the page: “Jamie was involved in a serious incident whilst on his motorbike, after witnessing this horrendous incident and giving a statement to the police I felt completely helpless so asked his family for permission to set this up to help him when he came out of hospital.

“Sadly he passed away on the 12/05/2021 leaving behind his loving family and friends. Nobody expects to be arranging a funeral for a 33 year old, I want to raise as much money as possible to get him the best send off and for his family not to have to worry about money to cover it.

“Any extra will be donated to Southampton ICU who worked so hard and supported them at such a tough time. A share, £1 or £10 it doesn’t matter it all helps. Thank you so much.”

Jamie's family have said that they are still processing what has happened and are deeply saddened.

His mother said: “We are overwhelmed with gratitude at everyone’s kindness."

Tributes have also been paid on the fundraising page.
